  • The 2013 Ford F150 Combines Great Power and Fuel Efficiency

The 2013 Ford F150 continues the reputation of being the best-selling full-size pickup for the past 35 years by continuing to offer a number of great features.  These features include several modern engines, the most recent mechanical parts, and the latest transmission technology.  The features specific to the F150 include a new grille, the MyFord Touch system, polished 22-inch rims, black and red leather seating, HID headlights, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

As with its predecessors, the 2013 model has the traditional boxy exterior apparent in the Ford F150.  However, it adds even larger mirrors, bumpers, and grille than previous models.  There is a stronger front end, powerful shoulders, and a large bed wall to create a powerful structure.  Most models also include an extendable side step to help you scale that large bed wall.  You can accentuate the exterior with options such as HID headlights, tailgate stepladder, and extendable side mirrors.

The interior matches the exterior in terms of features being larger than normal; this includes switches, knobs, and buttons.  The reason behind this is because of the fact that this truck is known for its working and towing capabilities.  As a result, most owners will be working and using heavy gloves of some sort; thus, the larger buttons make it easier to operate them while wearing those gloves.  The center console can hold two or more tablets or laptops; the slotted side ridges can keep hanging files in place.  It also comes well-equipped with outlets: Two 12-volt outlets in the console and on the dash, along with an 110-volt outlet.

The standard equipment includes the strong, boxed-section chassis that offers the best torsional rigidity, while also being lighter than the chassis of previous models.  The safety equipment is top-notch, as it has AdvanceTrac with RSC traction and stability control, Safety Canopy side-curtain airbags with roll-fold technology to help protect occupants’ heads in a crash, and anti-lock brakes.  There are additional side airbags in the front row, as well as a second-row center head restraint.

Options include an integral tailgate step that makes getting in and out of the truck easier, a spring-out box side step that enables easy access to the deep cargo box, and MyFord Touch that enables you to control several functions (music, cell phone, and navigation) via your voice.  You can also add on a more advanced Sony audio system and SIRIUS Travel Link too.

There are four engine options, two V6s and two V8s.  All four provide reasonable fuel economy thanks to the 6-speed automatic transmission.  A notable addition is the twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine that improves fuel economy while still providing solid performance.  The 3.7-liter V6 and 5.0-liter V8 have fuel-saving twin-independent variable camshaft timing technology to improve their fuel economy, while the 6.2-liter V8 provides the best power, capable of towing up to 11,300 pounds.

The Ford F150 model has been around for quite a long time, with a strong performance standard.  The 2013 version extends that track record, plus adds some oversized exterior and interior features to help make it easier for owners to operate the controls and enter and exit the vehicle.  It also has a multitude of options that range from a more powerful audio system to the MyFord Touch system to four different types of engines, including an EcoBoost engine.  As a result, there is a great deal of comfort, fuel economy, and power offered by this model.
